Nurul Izzah’s Temporary Leave Does Not Affect PKR’s Operations – Fahmi

Kuala lumpur: The decision to grant Nurul Izzah Anwar temporary leave from her post as PKR deputy president will not affect the party's operations or functions, as its organisational work will continue as usual, said PKR Information chief Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil. He said vice-president Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had been given the mandate to temporarily take on the responsibilities and functions of the post. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Communications Minister stated that the PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) rejected Nurul Izzah's resignation and instead approved her request for leave to focus on personal matters and pursue her PhD studies. Fahmi emphasized that Nurul Izzah remains a party member and will continue to contribute to the party's struggle, sharing this information during a press conference after launching the Kuala Lumpur-level Safe Internet PIBG Convention 2026. Fahmi addressed speculation about Subang MP Wong Chen vacating his parliamentary seat, stating that he had no information on the matter so far and that it was subject to an official announcement by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul. He also touched on speculation about the next general election, clarifying that there were no plans for it to be held earlier, with expectations for it to occur by the end of next year at the latest. The Federal Government's current focus, Fahmi mentioned, is on ensuring smooth administration, appreciating the commitment of component parties in the Unity Government to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership until the end of the term. He highlighted that the overall commitment within Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the Unity Government is to continue efforts to improve the country's situation and implement the reform agenda needed by the people. Fahmi pointed out that attention is still required on the implementation of the recommendations of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the Lembaga Tabung Haji for the 2014 to 2020 period. He also hinted at upcoming anno uncements by the Prime Minister, which he believes will be beneficial for both the people and the country.
