Number Of Flood Victims In Pahang Drops By Almost 50 Per Cent

Pahang: The number of flood victims at relief centres (PPS) in Pahang recorded a 50 per cent decrease this evening, with 218 people from 66 families compared to 580 people from 167 families this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Infobencana application reported that Kuantan recorded 138 flood victims, involving 39 families, followed by Pekan with 45 victims from 21 families and Maran with 35 victims from six families as of 5 pm.

Based on the application, only five PPSs are still operating, comprising three in Pekan and one each in Kuantan and Maran. The PPSs involved are the Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Semangat in Kuantan and Balairaya Kampung Baru Pertanian in Maran, while the PPS in Pekan are at Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Manis, and Dewan Orang Ramai Air Hitam.

According to Infopublic Banjir, the water in three main rivers has exceeded the danger level, namely the Pahang River at Lubuk Paku in Maran, Pahang River at Kuala Sungai Chini in Pekan, and the Keratong River in Kampung Rekoh in Rompin.
