Tawau: A total of 362 flood victims from 102 families were taking shelter at a temporary relief centre (PPS) in Tawau as of 4 pm today. The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said the figure had increased from 335 victims from 96 families recorded this morning. "The evacuees are being accommodated at the Tawau Sports Complex Multipurpose Hall," the secretariat said in a statement.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, all the evacuees are residents from four affected villages, namely Kampung Tanjung Batu Keramat, Tanjung Batu Darat, Tanjung Batu Otentik, and Kampung Kinabutan Tiku Batu 6. No casualties or untoward incidents have been reported so far.

Rescue agencies continue to monitor the situation on the ground, with water levels in several affected villages showing a declining trend. Continuous rain since Friday caused flooding in Tawau and its surrounding areas, prompting a disaster to be officially declared at 8.30 am.
