Kuala Lampur:NTT DATA, a global leader in AI and digital business services, has launched a new initiative titled 'Intact, intelligent action', focusing on transforming sustainability commitments into tangible actions, starting with an expedition to Antarctica.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative involves 12 NTT DATA employees joining polar explorer Robert Swan and over 60 other leaders on the 2041 Leadership on the Edge expedition, taking place from November 25 to December 2. This journey aboard the Magellan Explorer will lead participants to the Antarctic Peninsula and nearby islands, where they will engage in discussions on leadership, climate policy, sustainability, and innovation, with an emphasis on practical application of these commitments.
NTT DATA has been collaborating with Swan since 2022, appointing him as its Sustainability Ambassador in 2025. This expedition marks Swan's final personally organized and led journey to Antarctica. He noted the importance of experiencing such places to understand their need for protection and how technology and responsible choices can contribute to their preservation.
The initiative is an extension of NTT DATA's sustainability framework, 'Planet. Prosperity. People.', which underscores its efforts in environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Future phases of 'Intact, intelligent action' will target other vulnerable locations and will utilize a symbolic open-frame flag made from materials contributed globally to represent shared responsibility.
Robert Swan, renowned as the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles, has led over 20 Antarctic expeditions since 2003 and remains a staunch advocate for environmental protection and sustainability. To counteract emissions from the upcoming expedition, Swan plans to donate for each participant to support rainforest regeneration in Australia.
