NSWO Drives Women’s Empowerment and Family Support Initiatives

Negeri sembilan: The Negeri Sembilan Women’s Organisation (NSWO) continues to show a high level of commitment in advocating for women’s welfare and assisting those in need through various welfare initiatives. Its president, Datin Seri Raja Salbiah Tengku Nujumudin, stated that through the NSWO Strategic Plan 2015, all programmes are focused on empowering women, including assistance to single mothers, orphans, flood victims, disaster victims, and low-income families.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Welfare and Social Bureau of NSWO implements various aid initiatives for those in need, particularly in developing and empowering women as the backbone of family and community well-being. Datin Seri Raja Salbiah emphasized the organisation’s role not only as an umbrella for various welfare and development programmes but also as a key driver in strengthening social support networks in Negeri Sembilan.

NSWO is dedicated to ensuring that women, especially single mothers and low-income women, continue to receive opportunities to improve their standard of living through skills assistance and ongoing support. This was highlighted during her speech at the Deepavali contribution presentation ceremony, organised by NSWO and the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (BAKTI).

At the event, 39 individuals from the B40 group received donations of daily necessities and RM200 in cash, represented by their respective NGO chairpersons. The Jempol Tailors and Handicrafts Association chairman, G. Puranam, expressed gratitude for receiving two portable sewing machines from NSWO, hoping it would encourage greater participation of women in sewing.

The donation will benefit approximately 30 students under the association, adding to their current 11 sewing machines. G. Puranam highlighted the importance of support from various parties in empowering women, as skills development can not only help increase their income but also strengthen the family economy.
