Negeri sembilan: Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) put on an impressive performance at home, defeating Sabah FC 3-0 in a Super League clash at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, tonight.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the home side opened its account in the 26th minute when import striker Jovan Motika weaved past two defenders before unleashing a powerful strike that beat veteran goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat.
Head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil’s squad extended their lead in the 40th minute when Ameyaw Alexander Agyakwa netted the second goal, giving the hosts a comfortable 2-0 advantage going into halftime.
The second half witnessed Sabah seeking a comeback with several dangerous moves, but NSFC’s solid defence held firm, denying efforts from Ajdin Mujagic and Muhammad Jafri Muhammad Firdaus Chew.
NSFC nearly tripled the scoreline in the 64th minute when Motika embarked on a solo run, weaving past two defenders, but his shot on goal went wide.
The home team sealed the win with a third goal in the 79th minute, when Joseph Esso finished off a precise pass from Mio Tsuneyasu, sending the 20,000-strong crowd into joy.
Young debutant Luqman Hakim Shamsudin was in his element with his energetic display, showcasing speedy runs and accurate passes that further boosted NSFC’s attacking play.
The full three points lifted NSFC to fourth place in the league with eight points, while Sabah continued to struggle in 10th place with just three points.
