Kuala lumpur: The National Sports Council (NSC) is intensifying its efforts to enhance para athlete development across the country by delivering essential training equipment to selected State Sports Councils for their training centers.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the NSC announced that it had distributed 13 custom full-set bench press units to 13 states by late August, with a total investment of RM520,000. In an effort to boost participation in boccia, the NSC also provided ball sets to 11 states, allocating RM30,000 for this initiative. Additional sets will be supplied to states with a higher number of interested athletes.

Furthermore, the NSC is extending financial assistance to enable State Sports Councils to appoint coaches and para-sports mobilisers, ensuring a more systematic approach to para sports development. The statement emphasized the importance of equipment empowerment, an expansive talent search system, and the continuous involvement of coaches and mobilisers in establishing a robust network to maintain a steady flow of national para athletes.

NSC director-general Jefri Ngadirin highlighted the initiative's goal to create a comprehensive training ecosystem through collaboration with State Sports Councils, facilitating the identification and development of para talents from an early stage to high performance. This includes joint efforts to broaden the search for para athletes, allowing them to be identified early and trained consistently in their respective states, paving the way for progression to higher levels.
