NRES and Felda to Enhance Cooperation on Sustainability and Green Income

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) and the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) are planning to enhance their strategic cooperation. This initiative aims to balance the economic growth of settlers with the nation's focus on environmental sustainability.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup, the Minister of NRES, stated that the collaboration will particularly focus on involving Felda land in carbon market initiatives to develop new environmentally sustainable income streams. Additionally, the partnership will prioritize the conservation of water catchment areas surrounding planned land developments to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.

Arthur shared that he recently received a courtesy call from a Felda delegation led by its chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, at his office. He mentioned that the meeting was a pivotal platform to strengthen strategic cooperation between NRES and Felda.

Arthur expressed his confidence that through this closer collaboration, Felda communities will not only achieve socio-economic progress but also lead in adopting sustainable agricultural practices for the benefit of future generations.
