Kuala Lumpur: Maybank Islamic Bhd (MIB) has appointed Nor Shahrizan Sulaiman, currently serving as deputy chief executive officer, as the officer-in-charge. This decision follows the resignation of the group CEO, Islamic Banking, Datuk Muzaffar Hisham, who stepped down to pursue other professional interests.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the process to identify the new group CEO will begin immediately, with the outcome set to be announced in due course, as stated by the Maybank group. The president and group CEO of Maybank, Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli, expressed his gratitude for Muzaffar’s contributions over the past 14 years. He highlighted Muzaffar’s pivotal role in advancing Maybank’s Islamic banking franchise towards achieving global leadership, consistent with the M25+ strategy.
The statement from Maybank group also mentioned that Nor Shahrizan would handle the day-to-day management of MIB alongside his current responsibilities until a new group CEO is appointed.
