Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today that his primary focus will be on filling several vacancies within the Cabinet, rather than engaging in a major reshuffle.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, despite ongoing calls and speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle, Anwar emphasized that current evaluations suggest there is no need for extensive changes, especially as the MADANI Government has only about a year and a half remaining in its term.
Anwar explained, “We need to fill a few vacancies, but a major reshuffle normally requires a longer time (remaining in the term), while this Cabinet will only function for a little over a year, a year and a half. So I do not think a major reshuffle should be done. However, I am contemplating what steps should be taken. But filling the vacancies is necessary.” He made these remarks while speaking to reporters after launching Perodua’s first electric vehicle.
Speculation regarding a Cabinet reshuffle has intensified as several ministers are anticipated to conclude their service due to the expiration of their senatorship this month. Notable figures among them include Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
