No Gov’t Aidilfitri Open Houses, Ministers’ Overseas Visits To Be Limited – Anwar

Kuala lumpur: All ministries, agencies, and government-linked companies (GLCs) will not host Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house celebrations this year as a cost-saving measure following global economic uncertainties arising from the conflict in West Asia. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the decision, agreed upon by the Cabinet, aims to demonstrate the government's commitment to adopting a more moderate and prudent approach in its spending.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that leadership should initiate positive steps, leading to the decision that all government agencies and government-linked investment companies (GLICs) will not organize open house celebrations. Anwar addressed concerns about the necessity of these measures, even if the situation remains under control with sufficient prices and supply of necessities such as oil and gas. He described the decision as a prudent step to avoid potential severe situations in the future, advocating for a moderate and responsible approach.

In addition to canceling open house celebrations, Anwar announced that ministers and administration members would be restricted from undertaking overseas visits, except for engagements already scheduled or compulsory to attend. The government will continue monitoring developments in West Asia and devise measures to ensure economic growth and the people's wellbeing.
