No Compromise On Corruption, Abuse Of Power In Govt – PM Anwar

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that the Unity Government will not tolerate any form of abuse of power and corruption, whether among government officials or politicians. He said the government is committed to combating the misuse of government allocations for personal gain, including tender manipulation and embezzlement of development funds.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar declared a firm stance against corruption, emphasizing that he has declared war on such practices. He stated emphatically, “I will not allow any official or politician to use government allocations to misuse tenders and loot for their own wealth.” Anwar highlighted the potential consequences of unchecked corruption, noting that it could drain the nation’s revenue despite its size if individuals prioritize personal enrichment over public service.

Speaking at the Kelantan state-level Aidilfitri MADANI 2025 Celebration in Pantai Irama, Anwar reiterated that government positions should not serve as shortcuts to personal wealth accumulation. He urged those interested in business to pursue it without leveraging government positions, clarifying, “If you want to do business, do business properly. But if you use your position in the government, I will not allow it.”

Addressing concerns about selective prosecution, Anwar assured that the justice process follows the national legal framework. He clarified the roles of various bodies involved, stating, “Although some claim of favouritism, it is not my job. The one investigating is the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), while the Attorney General prosecutes and the one deciding (the sentence) is the court.”
