No Change in Vehicle Toll Categories, Confirms Malaysian Highway Authority

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has emphasized that there will be no changes to the categories of vehicles currently subject to tolls, maintaining the exemption for motorcyclists. This statement comes in response to a viral post by the social media account ebidmotor.com, which claimed that motorcyclists would be required to pay tolls starting this October.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, LLM has confirmed that the allegation is false and cautioned that such misinformation could needlessly alarm motorcyclists and damage the reputation of the government, the Ministry of Works (KKR), LLM, and the affected highway concessionaires. The agency reassured the public that the existing toll structure remains unchanged.

LLM further clarified that PLUS Malaysia Berhad is currently testing an open toll system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology. If successful, the new system will be incrementally implemented across highways managed by PLUS Malaysia Berhad. This initiative aims to enhance traffic flow, improve user convenience, and reduce congestion at toll plazas.

The authority urged the public, particularly toll highway users, to refrain from believing or disseminating unverified information and to rely solely on official updates from the relevant authorities.
