Tokyo: NIPPON KINZOKU CO., LTD., headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, has announced plans to bolster sales of its environmentally friendly stainless steel product, L-DieL (Long Die Life) finish. This innovative product is designed to reduce die wear, thereby enhancing productivity and offering cost savings for customers.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the L-DieL Finish achieves its wear reduction by modifying the passive oxide film on the surface of the stainless steel. This film, primarily composed of chromium oxide, is known for its hardness, which can cause accelerated wear on press dies during repeated contact. The film, although only about 10 nanometers thick, poses a significant challenge in pressing operations.

To address this issue, NIPPON KINZOKU has developed the L-DieL finish as a surface treatment that softens the oxide film, significantly mitigating die wear. This advancement not only contributes to improved operational efficiency but also aligns with environmental sustainability goals by offering a product that supports longer die life and reduced resource consumption.
