Dhaka: Nippon Express Holdings Inc has acquired a 20 per cent stake in Cold Chain Bangladesh Limited (CCBL), a domestic logistics company based in Dhaka, through its subsidiary Nippon Express (South Asia and Oceania) Pte Ltd.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Nippon Express (NX) Group announced that the acquisition was completed on May 15. This move is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its logistics operations in the growing Bangladeshi market, where demand for domestic logistics services is on the rise.
Since entering the Bangladesh market in 2012, the NX Group has primarily focused on international forwarding services, particularly catering to the apparel industry. The latest investment marks a shift towards expanding its footprint in the domestic logistics segment to meet increasing demand.
CCBL, a third-party logistics provider, offers a wide distribution infrastructure across the country, including temperature-controlled storage and transportation services. The partnership with CCBL enables the group to leverage these logistics assets and networks to provide comprehensive supply chain solutions by integrating domestic operations with its global logistics network.
The NX Group aims to capitalise on the growth opportunities within the Bangladesh logistics market and enhance value creation for its customers and stakeholders.
