Hatyai: The appointment of nine international technical officials (ITOs) from Malaysia to serve at the 38th Thai King’s Cup Sepaktakraw World Championship, scheduled in Hatyai from July 22 to 27, underscores the strong ties between the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (ASTAF) and the Sepak Takraw Federation of Malaysia (PSM).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, ASTAF Technical Vice-Chairman Syed Azmir Syed Ahmad, one of the appointed officials for the tournament, highlighted that Malaysia’s representation in terms of ITOs is the most significant among participating countries, which mostly have only one representative each. This appointment is attributed to the leadership and governance of PSM under Mohd Sumali, enhancing Malaysia’s stature in the sport.
Syed Azmir expressed hope that the relationship between Datuk Abdul Halim Kader, ASTAF president, and Datuk Mohd Sumali will continue to propel sepak takraw to greater achievements on the global stage. Alongside Syed Azmir, the Malaysian ITOs include Yusoff Ali, S
uhaimi Sun, Fadzil Hashim, Abdul Hafiz Ahmad, Nazrol Shah Mazlan, Jais Abdul Karim, Mohd Zubir Shari, and Muzaini Mansor.
