Beaverton: NIKE Inc, a designer, marketer, and distributor of athletic footwear, apparel, equipment, and accessories, has appointed Michael Gonda as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Communications Officer, effective July 7. In his new role, Gonda will oversee the company’s global communications strategy, including storytelling, corporate and brand reputation, issues management, and employee engagement.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gonda will be a member of NIKE’s Senior Leadership Team and will report to President and Chief Executive Officer, Elliott Hill. Hill expressed confidence in Gonda’s vision for impactful communications, his instinct for building teams, and his ability to form connections, which he believes will help Nike amplify the voice of sport and athletes globally.
Hill stated, “I am confident he is the right leader for us as we put Nike back at the centre of sport, and our team is excited for the vision and leadership he brings.” Meanwhile, Gonda expressed his honor in joining a company like Nike and his eagerness to help the brand tell meaningful stories and connect more deeply with athletes and communities.
Gonda joins Nike from McDonald’s Corporation, where he held roles such as Chief Impact Officer for North America and Global Chief Communications Officer. His previous experience also includes senior leadership roles at Chobani and communications agency Weber Shandwick.
