Kuala Lumpur: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has called on non-governmental organisations with a history of operating in Palestine to participate in a special agency coordinating committee aimed at aiding the reconstruction of Gaza. He emphasized the critical role that collective involvement in this committee will play in realizing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s aspiration for Malaysia to significantly contribute to supporting the Palestinian people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mohd Na’im highlighted the importance of Malaysia’s collaboration with the Japanese government in assisting those affected by the Israeli Zionist regime. “Together we pray that the intention expressed by the Prime Minister that Malaysia plays a role, specifically in the context of working with the Japanese government to help our friends who have been oppressed by the Israeli Zionist regime a success,” he stated during an event in conjunction with the 2025 Federal Territories Day celebration.
The committee’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for February 6, with coordination efforts led by Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee. Dr Mohd Na’im was accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa at the Zikir Akbar MADANI programme, where he made this call to action.
