Kuala lumpur: Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming today apologised and retracted remarks he made during the pre-launch of the Bukit Bintang’s I Lite U lighting initiative recently. Nga said he accepts all feedback regarding his remarks during the programme and withdraws any statements that may have caused confusion or upset among members of the media.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nga expressed his willingness to embrace all feedback concerning his statements at the Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur Lighting Programme. He made it clear that if any members of the media were offended by his remarks, he is retracting them and offering an apology. His intention, he stated, is to refocus on efforts to rebuild the nation. This was conveyed during a press conference for the opening ceremony of MADANI Park at Taman Book Bak.

Nga underscored his respect for the media and their freedom of expression, highlighting their critical role in society. He reiterated his commitment to the nation’s progress and development, which he believes is of utmost importance.

A video recently went viral showing Nga responding in a slightly stern tone to a media practitioner’s inquiry about the use of English in the campaign name for I Lite U. The incident attracted widespread criticism, notably from the National Union of Journalists Malaysia (NUJM) and the Gerakan Media Merdeka (GERAMM).
