Kuala lumpur: The restructuring of the National Football Development Programme (NFDP) is showing positive results thanks to technical cooperation between the National Sports Council (NSC) and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). NSC director-general Jefri Ngadirin highlighted early indications of the effectiveness of the restructuring through the national Under-16 (U16) squad's achievement as the 2026 Under-17 (U17) ASEAN Championship runners-up in Indonesia last April. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Jefri stated, "For NFDP, as how we have announced last year, all technical aspects will be managed by the FAM. And we have seen the signs of small successes in the U17 championship where we emerged as runners-up." He emphasized that these early successes are part of the small changes made to ensure that NFDP players can achieve greater success in the future. Jefri further mentioned that the allocation received from the government will be optimally managed to meet the management needs of coaches, athle tes, and comprehensive performance monitoring. He made these remarks during the officiation of the 2027 ASEAN Para Games Camp Phase 1 at the Kampung Pandan Paralympics Sports Excellence Centre.
