According to BERNAMA News Agency, the celebrations were highlighted by large-scale multimedia performances and fireworks displays, which illuminated key tourist hotspots, creating a peaceful and orderly atmosphere. In a Facebook post, Prime Minister Anwar expressed hope that such events would continue to promote harmony and national unity while elevating Malaysia's status as a friendly, inclusive, and respected tourism destination worldwide.

The Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign was officially launched during the Visit Malaysia 2026 Countdown Festival, a grand New Year's Eve celebration held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The countdown, attended by Prime Minister Anwar, signaled the beginning of efforts to generate early momentum in the national tourism sector, aiming for 43 million international visitor arrivals. This initiative aligns with Malaysia's aspiration to position itself as a leading global tourism destination.
