New Police Strategy to Enhance School Safety Announced by Home Minister

Kuala lumpur: A new police strategy to strengthen their presence in schools will be implemented soon, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said. He stated that the initiative follows a directive from the Cabinet for the Home Ministry (KDN), through the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), to increase police presence in school areas as part of government efforts to curb juvenile crime.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the move aims to enhance patrols under the concept of ‘omni-presence’, ensuring that police are visibly present at schools. Saifuddin Nasution emphasized the need for increased patrols and more creative programs to raise awareness among students about criminal activities. He highlighted that the police should engage in more frequent visits and direct interactions with schools, suggesting that these efforts should extend beyond casual visits or brief stops.

Saifuddin Nasution also mentioned the importance of conducting various engagement sessions, structured visits, inspections, and providing advisory services to all stakeholders. This comprehensive approach aims to strengthen the relationship between police and school communities.

Yesterday, Saifuddin Nasution noted that the Home Ministry, through PDRM, will increase patrols and police presence in school areas to support the government’s newly introduced digital safety policy for students. He pointed out that this initiative is part of an integrated approach that includes education, prevention, and enforcement.
