New Health Clinic to Boost Medical Infrastructure in Betong

Betong: A health clinic costing RM16 million will be built in the Simpang Layar area of Betong, announced Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas. The clinic aims to enhance the medical facilities in the region, complementing two other proposed medical centers in the Spaoh area- a RM36 million clinic and a RM5 million haemodialysis center.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Uggah attributed these developments to the establishment of the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA). The Deputy Premier highlighted the significance of these projects, including a major infrastructure initiative-the completion of the road from Sri Aman to Betong town. This road, part of the Second Trunk Road project, is expected to be completed next year, reducing travel time between the towns to about 30 minutes.

Uggah emphasized his commitment to fostering economic growth and educational excellence in Betong. He noted the potential of modern farming, revealing plans for a 1,000-acre agro park. Several companies have been identified to collaborate with landowners in spearheading this agricultural development.
