Kuala lumpur: The new-generation MyKad, which began issuance today, no longer includes the Touch 'n Go facility. Users can instead access the service via the Touch 'n Go eWallet or a separate Touch 'n Go card, as stated in a social media post by the National Registration Department (JPN).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the new-generation MyKad emphasizes its core role as Malaysia's official identity document while integrating advanced security and technology features. This version of the MyKad comes equipped with 53 security features, including a Dynamic Security Hologram, a transparent window on the front, an Enforcement QR Code, and a Dual-Function Interface Chip on the back.

The enhancements aim to improve identity verification capabilities and reduce the risk of document forgery and misuse. JPN highlights that the transparent window fortifies the card against forgery, while the QR code aids in verification and enforcement processes.

Additionally, the Dynamic Security Hologram on the MyKad presents a three-dimensional image that shifts with the angle of view and lighting conditions. Specific security elements become visible under ultraviolet light, thanks to the UV feature. The card also incorporates guilloche patterns and microtext, along with a polycarbonate layer, to increase resistance to heat and chemicals, thereby boosting the card's durability.

Applicants can obtain the new-generation MyKad at 40 JPN branches equipped with printing facilities, enabling same-day issuance. For branches without these facilities, applications will be processed, and cards will be ready within five working days.
