Miri:Miri residents will soon have another air travel option available with the introduction of a new flight service to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (LTSAAS) in Subang, starting operations on December 1, 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man stated that the new route will be beneficial for residents who frequently travel for work, business, education, medical treatment, and family commitments. The proximity of Subang Airport to central Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas will provide greater convenience for travelers, particularly regarding accessibility and onward land transportation.
Chiew, who also serves as the Miri Member of Parliament, expressed his support for the announcement. He highlighted that the new route is not only about increasing flight options but also about improving Miri's connectivity with the country's main economic centers. He mentioned discussing the possibility of this route with Batik Air in previous meetings and welcomed the positive developments toward its implementation.
He further noted that enhanced air connectivity could boost the business and tourism sectors while making travel between Miri and the Klang Valley more convenient. Chiew emphasized the importance of better air transport links for Miri, a city with significant growth potential, stating that more flight options would offer greater convenience for residents and create more opportunities to stimulate local economic activity.
