Rompin: Nearly 15,000 new civil service positions have been filled by the Public Service Commission (PSC) as of the middle of this year. PSC chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus announced the progress with a view toward reaching an ambitious hiring target.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, PSC had initially set a goal to appoint 30,000 civil servants by the end of the year, a notable increase from the 25,000 appointments planned for 2025. "We remain optimistic to achieve the target of 30,000 new recruits by the end of this year," Dr. Ahmad Jailani stated during his visit to the MADANI PSC Career Fair at Rompin Community College.

Dr. Ahmad Jailani highlighted the substantial interest in public service roles, with more than 800,000 registered applications recorded in the PSC system in the first half of the year. He also noted that the number of applications is expected to rise to over one million by year-end, compared to 1.07 million applicants in 2025 and 1.26 million in 2024.

In discussing the PSC Career Fair, Dr. Ahmad Jailani emphasized the program's role in providing exposure to job opportunities, particularly for the Orang Asli community in government sectors. The focus is on nursing positions, which are identified as critical and in need of expansion. The MADANI PSC Career Fair facilitates open interviews to address these needs.
