Kedah: NCT Group of Companies (NCT Group), in collaboration with Northern Gateway (NGX), has launched the RM1.10 billion gross development value (GDV) Managed Integrated Smart Industrial Park, NCT InnoSphere, in Kedah. NGX is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc.).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, NCT InnoSphere is located on a 55.44-hectare free zone land and is planned in eight development phases. Each phase comprises a mix of industrial, commercial, and support components designed to promote efficient operational, trade, and manufacturing activities. The project will offer over 230 premises, including semi-detached units, detached units, clusters, terraced units, and custom-built configurations, tailored to the needs of various businesses across different sectors.
Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying emphasized the Ministry of Finance’s support for this agenda, including the Delapan project within the Special Border Economic Zone (SBEZ) under NGX. She highlighted NGX’s mandate to develop the Malaysia-Thailand border area, focusing on Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, as a regional hub for trade, logistics, and industry. Among the high-impact projects already in progress are the construction of the new ICQS Complex, a Logistics Hub and Inland Port, and the Northern Digital Corridor with an operational Internet Exchange.
Lim noted that NGX is committed not only to physical infrastructure but also to digital ecosystems, smart industries, and sustainable supply chains. This initiative aims to make SBEZ the key gateway to the mainland ASEAN market, thus enhancing Malaysia’s competitiveness. Speaking at the launch ceremony, officiated by Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, Lim stated that NCT InnoSphere will further strengthen Delapan’s position as an industrial hub and symbolize confidence in Kedah’s potential to offer a smart manufacturing environment, green technology, and a strong regional supply chain ecosystem.
NCT Group founder and managing director Datuk Seri Yap Ngan Choy added that NCT InnoSphere will create long-term economic value for the northern region and support national efforts to diversify logistics channels and streamline trade between regional markets. Under the joint development agreement, NCT Group is tasked with full project delivery, including planning, construction, and ecosystem development. Meanwhile, NGX, as the landowner and facilitator, will oversee major infrastructure works, utility provisions, and regulatory coordination to ensure smooth project implementation.
