KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of National Unity has mobilised the Rukun Tetangga Community (KRT) machinery to assist in flood relief efforts across affected areas nationwide. Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang announced the initiative, highlighting the ministry’s collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development, along with other relevant agencies at flood-hit locations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang emphasized the ministry’s preparedness to handle flood situations and similar disasters. He mentioned his recent visits to Gua Musang and Kota Bharu in Kelantan, regions that have also been severely impacted by the floods. “We have mechanisms in place to assist during floods and similar disasters,” he stated during a press briefing at the International Interfaith Peace Conference.

The flood situation has deteriorated across nine states, with over 120,000 evacuees currently residing in temporary relief centres. Besides Kelantan, which remains the most affected, the
states of Terengganu, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Perlis, Johor, Melaka, Perak, and Selangor are also experiencing significant flood damage.

In response to the escalating crisis, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that all ministers and deputy ministers are required to cancel their leave. He instructed them to visit affected areas to provide direct assistance and support to relief efforts.
