National Unity Ministry Allocates RM2.6 Million for Progressive Neighbourhood Watch Projects in Kelantan

Kelantan: The Ministry of National Unity has allocated RM2.6 million for 37 Progressive Neighbourhood Watch (RT) projects across Kelantan since 2024. Kelantan Department of National Unity and National Integration director Zarina Zakaria stated that the projects are funded through grants designed to enhance existing community-run initiatives with the goal of boosting their income.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zarina emphasized that the funding is not intended as seed money but rather to expand and strengthen existing economic opportunities with the Neighbourhood Watch communities. She explained that out of the eight focus areas for Progressive RT, two are mandatory: communities must have existing economic projects and actively engage in voluntary patrols. The other areas involve community support activities and efforts to fortify unity.

Zarina highlighted several Progressive RT projects, including community ventures in deer farming, fertigation crops, turkey farming, cattle farming, goat rearing, freshwater fish farming, and stingless bee honey production. She mentioned that in Gua Musang, two Progressive RT projects are in progress: freshwater fish farming in Kampung Batu Papan and deer farming in Kampung Kundur.
