National TVET Day Recognises Roles Of Competitive Skilled Workforce

Putrajaya: The National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day celebration every June 2 reflects the government's recognition of the strategic role of TVET in developing a skilled, competent, and competitive workforce to meet the needs of the industry and drive the country's economic growth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the celebration is not just an annual industry calendar event but also provides a platform for students, graduates, youth, and the community to explore job opportunities, open interviews, career guidance, and entrepreneurial opportunities based on TVET skills. The culmination of the 2026 TVET Day celebration will see Dataran Putrajaya become the focus for three days starting tomorrow, with the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to officiate the celebration this Saturday.

With the theme "TVET, the Top Career Choice," the celebration was held based on six objectives: increasing public awareness of TVET, promoting TVET as the top career choice, providing comprehensive access to TVET information, connecting TVET talents with the industry, opening up career and entrepreneurship opportunities, and providing an interactive and impactful TVET experience.

The celebration is expected to bring together approximately 200,000 visitors and will witness the gathering of more than 107 agencies, institutions, and industry players from nine major sectors on one stage, covering the fields of aerospace, electronics and digital, agriculture, transportation and automotive, advanced manufacturing, services, rail, maritime, and the energy sector.

A difference in the organisation of the celebration this year is the involvement of 30 exhibitors from China, thus strengthening international cooperation in empowering the development of the local TVET ecosystem.

The celebration, which will take place from 9 am to 10 pm throughout the three days of the event, will present various programmes and interesting activities to provide visitors with the opportunity to explore six main hubs, namely the involvement of TVET institutions and industry; TVET seminars; TVET career carnival; TVET entrepreneurs; TVET challenges; and TVET information entertainment.

The celebration will also open up wide marketability opportunities for visitors with the offer of nearly 3,000 job vacancies through a career carnival provided in strategic collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (Socso). Applicants can directly apply for jobs at the programme location through open interviews with industry players in addition to reviewing resumes and receiving career guidance to obtain highly skilled job opportunities.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was previously reported to have said that TVET continued to show positive development when recording a total enrollment of 459,558 students while the marketability rate of TVET graduates increased to 95.9 per cent in 2025. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the chairman of the National TVET Council, described the success as the result of the commitment and cooperation of all parties who believe that skills-based education is one of the main drivers for a more competitive economy and a brighter future for the next generation.

For the record, the National TVET Day 2025 celebration held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) from June 11 to 13, successfully attracted more than 164,000 visitors, with an extraordinary attendance record on the first day of 41,830 visitors.
