Bukit jalil: The national archery team is expected to receive new equipment soon after the National Sports Council (MSN) agreed to provide allocations to upgrade training and competition equipment.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, National Archery Association of Malaysia (NAAM) honorary secretary Muhammad Zul Izzi Ab Manaff stated that the move is not due to a lack of equipment but is aimed at improving the quality of existing equipment to be more competitive at the international level. He explained that the upgrading process was previously carried out in stages, but this time there is an opportunity for a more comprehensive improvement as some of the existing equipment is outdated.
"The MSN has agreed to provide a budget to bring in new equipment. Actually, it's not because we haven't bought it in a long time, but we want to upgrade the existing equipment," Muhammad Zul Izzi Ab Manaff said after the Working Committee Meeting (JKK) at MSN, Bukit Jalil. "So far we have been making small improvements, but this time we have been given the advantage to upgrade more comprehensively because there are some pieces of equipment that are a bit behind," he added.
He mentioned that the purchase of new equipment is expected to help athletes maintain a level of consistency in training and competitions. Although he did not disclose the budget required, he noted that the upgrades will include equipment such as bows and main components like risers and limbs.
