Masjid imam as syafie: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, tonight attended the Yasin recitation, tahlil, and doa selamat held in conjunction with the state-level National Day celebration at Masjid Imam As Syafie here. Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad; state Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) president Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini; and about 1,000 congregants.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sultan Nazrin also officiated the mosque, which was completed last year at a cost of RM8.7 million, and can accommodate about 1,600 people at any one time. His Royal Highness drew the curtain covering the plaque as a symbolic gesture to officiate the mosque and joined in the doa selamat, before taking part in the Yasin recitation and tahlil led by Masjid As Syafie Imam II Muhammad Luqmaan Mohd Helmi. Sultan Nazrin then joined the congregational Isyak prayer at the mosque.
