Kuala lumpur: What began as a spontaneous attempt by Hot FM radio presenter Fara Fauzana Mohd Fadzil to volunteer as a dancer eventually brought her to the center stage of the 2026 National Day celebration, fulfilling a long-held dream of becoming a dancer. Although her appearance lasted only a few minutes during a performance of the 2026 National Day theme song "Aku Berjanji," the opportunity was deeply meaningful to Fara Fauzana, fondly known as Fafau, especially as it came on a historic stage for Malaysians.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, it all began when the Petaling Jaya-born entertainer jokingly expressed her wish to the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) team when they visited Hot FM for an interview earlier this month. "I told the JKKN team that I wanted to dance (and take part in the National Day celebration performance). They said I could not because rehearsals had already started in July. That was fine because I was only trying my luck. If you don't ask, you won't know," she said.

But about two weeks later, Fara Fauzana received a call from JKKN offering her the opportunity to take part in the performance. Despite her excitement, she faced a tight schedule, with only about 10 days to learn and master the dance steps before the celebration, while continuing her commitments as a radio presenter. Acknowledging that learning a combination of modern and traditional dance movements from videos within such a short period was no easy task, she sought guidance from JKKN instructors to refine her movements.

Performing energetically alongside the dancers in the special Rentak MADANI Paluan Tradisi segment, Fara Fauzana saw her participation as more than simply fulfilling a personal dream. Instead, she regarded the opportunity as one way of expressing her love for the country through the arts, especially as she has never missed the chance to experience the National Day celebrations in person each year.

The same patriotic spirit was demonstrated by social media influencer Muhammad Noor Zakaria, better known as Madnor, who chose to take part in the National Day parade without accepting any payment. For Madnor, not every form of participation should be measured in monetary terms. Instead, he regarded joining the parade as a form of 'national service' that he could contribute as a Malaysian.

Celebrity entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman also took part in the 69th National Day parade, adding further color to the participation of popular personalities in enlivening the celebration and expressing their love for the country. Ultimately, although they expressed their patriotism through different avenues, the participation of celebrities and influencers in this year's celebration conveyed the same message - love for the country can be expressed in many ways, according to one's abilities and role.

Themed "Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati," the celebration drew more than 100,000 visitors and featured 10,819 parade participants from 76 contingents and 22 marching bands.
