National Craft Day 2025 Postponed to Enhance Event Format: Fahmi

Kuala Lumpur: The National Craft Day (HHK) 2025, initially scheduled for February, has been postponed to facilitate improvements in its organizing format for a more effective execution. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced an alternative event, the Aidilfitri Craft Bazaar, which will commence today at the Conlay Craft Complex. This event will feature batik, songket, and other local handicrafts to bolster Malaysia’s arts and crafts ecosystem.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil explained that industry players have expressed a need to revamp the HKK programme, which has maintained a similar format for 22 years. The aim is to reintroduce the event with enhancements that align with the ASEAN Chairmanship, promoting local products more effectively. The minister shared these insights with Bernama after attending the Aidilfitri Craft Bazaar organized by the Terengganu batik operators association at the Craft Complex.

Fahmi also proposed that MyCreative Venture collaborate with local craft operators to organize a Pesta Rakyat and Riuh programme. This initiative would showcase entrepreneurs, particularly those in the handicraft industry. Furthermore, Fahmi invited the public to visit the 10-day Aidilfitri Craft Bazaar, running until March 27, featuring 80 entrepreneurs from various Malaysian states including Terengganu, Kelantan, Selangor, and more.

The bazaar will offer a range of products such as batik, songket, silver decorative items, and rattan products. Accessories including handbags, songkoks, tarbus, and other bags will be available. The bazaar will operate from 10 am to 7 pm, Monday through Thursday, with extended hours until 10 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
