Kuala lumpur: Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi expressed his happiness and appreciation for the social media movement initiated by content creator Tracey E. Hughes and friends in their efforts to keep the Pan Borneo Highway clean. He said the initiative not only reflects the spirit of cleanliness but also demonstrates a high level of civic awareness among the people regarding the importance of maintaining public facilities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nanta noted the increasing level of public awareness, coupled with the efforts spearheaded by Tracey and friends, has made the KKR (Works Ministry) team and himself feel less alone and more motivated to further raise public awareness. He expressed his desire to meet with the group to explore opportunities for collaboration in intensifying the road cleanliness awareness campaign. Nanta also sees the potential to appoint them as MYJalan ambassadors in Sarawak to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining road cleanliness and safety.
Nanta emphasized that such voluntary actions are a form of appreciation for the government’s efforts in allocating billions of ringgit to provide comfortable and safe road and highway networks for the people. He fully supports and welcomes such efforts because they spread a positive message to the community and encourage collective responsibility in maintaining road cleanliness and safety.
He highlighted that these efforts help reinforce the idea that roads are not solely the government’s responsibility but also a shared trust of the people. Nanta called on more individuals to support and participate in such initiatives to ensure a clean, safe, and prosperous road environment. He also mentioned that in August, the KKR launched the Pan Borneo Sarawak Highway Cleanliness Awareness Campaign with the theme ‘Jum Jaga Pan Borneo Bait-Bait’.
