Baleh: The bridge project at Nanga Gaat and the construction of an access road to Rumah Tungku, Sebiro, Sungai Gaat (Phase 1: Section 1) are among the government's key initiatives to strengthen infrastructure development in the interior areas of Baleh, said Deputy Minister of Digital Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, these projects are being implemented under the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) and the Ulu Rajang Development Agency (URDA). "The projects are expected to be a major catalyst or game changer for residents of Sungai Gaat, especially in facilitating daily movement, boosting the local economy, and providing better basic infrastructure facilities," he stated via his Facebook page.
Wilson, who serves as the Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament, visited the project site recently, where he also chaired a meeting on the implementation of the road project involving the alignment from Rumah Nyamok to Puro. He noted that the construction of the bridge and access road would reduce residents' reliance on river transport and dirt tracks, which had previously been the main routes of communication.
In this context, he also highlighted the importance of extending access roads to all longhouses to ensure that the benefits of development are enjoyed comprehensively and inclusively by the local community.
