NADMA Hosting Resilient Asia 2026, Uniting Disaster Management Experts, Tech

Kuala lumpur: For the first time, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) is hosting an international-scale expo, Resilient Asia 2026, at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) from April 24 to 26. NADMA's deputy director-general (Operations), Datuk Abdul Gapar Abu Bakar, announced that the expo will bring together disaster-management experts from home and abroad to showcase the latest technologies and best practices in mitigation and disaster response.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the expo will feature around 50 exhibitors, with 20 of them from overseas, including China, Turkiye, and other Asian countries. They will be presenting a range of the latest technologies such as drones, sensor systems, and early warning systems for safety and rescue during disasters. The announcement was made during an interview at the 2026 CBRNE hazardous-materials disaster simulation and evacuation exercise, organized by the Penang state government to strengthen the readiness of all agencies in responding to high-risk disasters.

The expo is free and open to the public, with a particular encouragement for community participation, especially among school students, to gain exposure and knowledge on disaster management. Abdul Gapar also noted that the event is expected to raise public awareness of the importance of disaster preparedness and to strengthen regional cooperation in disaster management.
