Nadi: Efforts to strengthen collaboration between the National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) and Rural Community Centres (PKD) under the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) reflect the government's focus on synergy, resource optimisation and better public service delivery. Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil highlighted this initiative at the PKD-NADI Strategic Collaboration Workshop, where he emphasized the evolution of NADI into community information and empowerment hubs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi pointed out the significant potential for PKD and NADI to complement each other in enhancing service delivery to the public. With 191 PKDs equipped with facilities and community networks, the collaboration aims to fully utilise existing government resources for public benefit. This initiative aligns with a whole-of-government approach, prioritizing efficient use of facilities over ownership.

Fahmi also underscored the government's efforts to promote a cashless society and digital empowerment, extending to artificial intelligence (AI) skills. He expressed the goal for each NADI to produce at least one prompt engineer, preparing young people for future technological advancements. By leveraging cloud technology and AI, communities can develop applications that benefit their local economies.

In addressing concerns over e-commerce platform misuse, Fahmi revealed that he instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take firm action against the online sale of drugs, including fentanyl. This follows an alert from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding the issue.

Fahmi stressed the importance of secure communications networks and user education to prevent drug sales and other problems such as scams. Government efforts aim to provide reliable Internet access and improve PKD and NADI facilities, narrowing the digital divide across rural, suburban, and urban communities.
