Negeri sembilan: Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun is confident the state government's track record and achievements will convince voters in the Linggi state constituency to back him in tomorrow's 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aminuddin, who is contesting the Linggi seat on a Pakatan Harapan (PH) ticket, said voters now place greater emphasis on a government's performance and ability to deliver tangible results rather than election promises alone.
He highlighted that the development achieved in Port Dickson provides a strong foundation for taking Linggi into its next phase of growth, particularly in economic expansion, job creation, and the provision of better public facilities. Aminuddin emphasized the importance of presenting a proven record of work rather than just promises, expressing his desire to continue efforts that have already begun so that the benefits of development can be enjoyed by the people.
Aminuddin's next priority is to strengthen the local economy, create more employment opportunities, and provide facilities that directly benefit residents. The PKR vice-president noted that balanced development efforts have gained greater momentum since Pakatan Harapan formed the state government through strategic cooperation with the Federal Government.
He mentioned that among the high-impact projects secured for Port Dickson are technology giant Google's investment in the Springhill industrial area and the implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven Smart Port project. Aminuddin stated that both initiatives will add value to the local economy, attract higher-quality investments, and create better-paying jobs for the people.
His administration's strategic approach aims to ensure the benefits of economic growth are extended throughout Port Dickson, from the Selangor border at Sepang to the Melaka border. The focus is on ensuring Linggi keeps pace with the state's economic growth while maintaining a balance between development and the needs of the local community.
Aminuddin expressed his aspiration and priority to ensure every segment of society in Linggi enjoys the benefits of economic growth, new employment opportunities, and a more competitive standard of living. Linggi is described as a rural constituency comprising diverse socio-economic groups, including fishermen, farmers, estate workers, the Orang Asli community, and Malay, Chinese, and Indian residents.
He noted that Linggi differs significantly from Sikamat, the constituency he has represented since 2008, which is largely suburban with established residential areas. In Sikamat, issues frequently faced by residents include housing and natural disasters such as floods and strong winds. In Linggi, challenges are different and more varied, requiring support for fishermen's assets and basic facilities, as well as addressing damaged houses and abandoned housing projects.
In the three-cornered contest tomorrow, Aminuddin will face incumbent Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Datuk Zamri Md Said of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
