According to BERNAMA News Agency, the PKR vice-president said feedback from party workers showed Aminuddin's leadership over nearly two terms as menteri besar continued to resonate with voters, reinforcing confidence in political stability and continued economic growth. 'Support on the ground has been very good. I have met many people and they do not have any major issues (with Aminuddin). There has been no major scandal associated with the Pakatan Harapan administration from the beginning until now,' he said in an interview with Bernama here today.
Amirudin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, said he was confident the positive response would translate into votes for PH. 'Response has been very encouraging. While it may not necessarily be reflected in large gatherings, the feedback we have received throughout the campaign and from our grassroots network gives me confidence that we can achieve success,' he said.
The Gombak MP said apart from Aminuddin's credibility as menteri besar and Port Dickson MP, PH's campaign in Negeri Sembilan was further strengthened by its well-organised grassroots machinery. Amirudin said the positive reception from voters had placed PH in a strong position to defend its traditional seats and secure a fresh mandate to form a stable state government.
He also said Prime Minister and PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership and the progress achieved under his administration would provide an added advantage to the coalition's candidates. 'Datuk Seri Anwar will certainly lend his support to our candidates and campaign as he normally does. Based on our experience in Johor, public confidence in Datuk Seri Anwar helps boost support for our candidates,' he said.
On PH's manifesto, to be launched tonight, Amirudin said it would combine the coalition's ongoing initiatives with new proposals, providing a strong foundation for sustaining development and strengthening the people's economy in Negeri Sembilan. In the 2023 state election, PH won 17 seats, while Barisan Nasional (BN) secured 14 and Perikatan Nasional (PN) five.
A total of 889,490 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this election, comprising 867,151 ordinary voters, 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, and 5,455 police personnel as early voters. The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 5. Early voting takes place on July 28 while polling is on Aug 1.
