Negeri sembilan: Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has declared that a recently highlighted instrument of proclamation was signed under duress and against his will.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ismail lodged a police report at approximately 6 pm yesterday, seeking an investigation into the matter. He expressed that the document, which surfaced in a media statement on the night of September 8, did not adhere to the necessary processes and procedures outlined in Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959. Therefore, he emphasized that the document is invalid, unconstitutional, and unenforceable.
In a statement today, Ismail mentioned that the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council convened yesterday to discuss forming a Peace Committee. This committee aims to address the state's customary issues in a harmonious and consensus-driven manner. The state government also invoked Article 71 of the Federal Constitution, which ensures the Federation's protection of a Ruler's rights and position under the Constitution. Measures will be taken to safeguard the dignity and position of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
Ismail reiterated his full support and unwavering loyalty to Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as the only legitimate and sovereign Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. Media reports had alleged that Ismail had signed an instrument of proclamation associated with Article 10 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan 1959, with a document allegedly carrying his signature being presented at a press conference last night.
