Sadong jaya: The Negeri Sembilan Health Department has called on the public to continue donating blood, including during Ramadan. Its director, Dr. Zuraida Mohamed, said this is to ensure that blood supply remains sufficient at hospitals throughout the state, particularly for emergency cases, surgeries, chronic disease treatments, and patients who require regular blood transfusions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zuraida stated that blood donation during Ramadan is safe and can be done at suitable times, either before 9 am, provided donors delay their sahur (pre-dawn meal), or after breaking fast. Many donors prefer to come at night as the environment is more comfortable.
Dr. Zuraida emphasized that the public should continue to donate, assuring that the procedures are safe and monitored by trained healthcare personnel. She also advised donors to get adequate rest and maintain a balanced diet before and after donating blood to ensure they remain in good health.
She noted that every bag of blood donated is meaningful and can save several lives, aligning with the spirit of Ramadan.
