MyKad Usage in SARA Programme Enhances Security in Essential Goods Purchases: Fahmi

Kuala lumpur: The use of MyKad in the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme serves as an effective mechanism to prevent fraud or leakage in the purchase of essential goods, as stated by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. He highlighted the success of this method through the consistent increase in transactions for the RM100 SARA appreciation aid.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Finance has confirmed the stability of the system, with a daily increase in the amount processed. This trend indicates that MyKad’s integration into the SARA programme is an optimal strategy for safeguarding against fraud and leakages in essential goods transactions. Fahmi made these remarks during the Sembang Santai Komuniti MADANI programme at Kampung Cocos. Present at the event were Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Information Department director-general Julina Johan.

In further developments, Fahmi addressed the ongoing inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir at the Kota Kinabalu Coroner’s Court, emphasizing its role in the judicial process. He underscored the importance of avoiding statements that could be deemed sub judice, based on discussions with the Attorney-General’s Chambers. Fahmi noted that if the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) receives complaints about inaccurate statements, platforms might be asked to remove such content.
