MYEG and Zetrix AI Suspended Over RM314 Million Arrears

Kuala Lampur:Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced the suspension of MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd, under the MYEG Group, from their roles as government revenue collection agents. This decision was made due to their failure to transfer RM314 million in collected revenue to the government between May 19 and September 30.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, The government took action after the companies did not settle the outstanding amount despite receiving 35 reminders since May. Loke noted that MYEG had issued a cheque for RM231 million dated September 30, but it could not be processed due to instructions from the company itself.

As a result, the Ministry of Transport and the Road Transport Department suspended payment services through MYEG and Zetrix AI starting October 5. Loke emphasized that the suspension was not politically motivated, stating that the action was based solely on the unmet financial obligations.

Loke refuted claims that the arrears had accumulated over three years, clarifying that the unpaid amount dated back to May of the current year. He stated that while there had been previous delays, MYEG had settled those arrears after reminders.

The suspension will remain in effect until the arrears are settled, and legal action will be pursued. The government is committed to ensuring the proper management and transfer of public revenue and will involve the Ministry of Finance and other central agencies for further civil action, as the matter is not only a contractual but also a legal obligation.

MYEG has been a collection agent for the Road Transport Department since 2000, handling services like motor vehicle licence renewals and electronic summons payments. As a collection agent, it is required to transfer government revenue daily within one working day of each transaction.
