MyCARE Launches Initiative to Supply 500 Baby Packs for Palestinians Facing Winter

Selangor: Humanitarian Care Malaysia Berhad (MyCARE) is set to provide 500 baby aid packs valued at RM375,000 to assist the Palestinian community in preparing for the winter season. MyCARE Board of Trustees member Dr Fauziah Mohd Hasan announced the initiative, which is in collaboration with Klinik AJWA, and involves a fundraising drive to ensure the delivery of essential items, including infant formula and disposable diapers, to those in need.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Fauziah emphasized the project's implementation will involve international strategic partners to purchase items directly within Gaza, circumventing potential restrictions. This approach ensures that aid distribution aligns with the actual needs of the local community and is not dictated by external influences. She noted the difficulty in transporting goods like baby milk across borders, as items brought in by organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) have faced confiscation.

Dr Fauziah, also known for her humanitarian efforts, highlighted the inflated costs of basic goods in Gaza, with some items only entering through commercial channels. This situation has led to exorbitant prices for essential goods, while local residents struggle without stable income or employment. She described instances where the price of salt has surged by hundreds of times, and sugar prices have reached as high as USD100 (RM405.75) per kilo.

Although there has been a slight easing in the entry of goods, Dr Fauziah stated that prices remain high, affordable only through international donations. The announcement took place during a forum at the Yayasan Restu Auditorium, Selangor International Islamic Arts Complex, where Dr Fauziah was joined by Prof Emeritus Dr Mohd Alauddin Mohd Ali and UniSZA Faculty of Law and International Relations lecturer Prof Dr Mohd Afandi Salleh, attended by nearly 200 participants.
