MYC Hopes New Minister, Deputy Will Address Key Youth Challenges

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) has welcomed the appointment of Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari and Mordi Bimol as the new Youth and Sports Minister and deputy minister, respectively. MYC president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abdul Hamid expressed the organization's optimism that the new leadership of the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) will ensure that the youth development agenda remains relevant and grounded in the real challenges faced by young people, driven by policies based on data and grassroots voices.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MYC highlighted the major challenges currently faced by the nation's youth, including the rising cost of living, graduate employability, changes in the world of work, and mental well-being issues. Mohd Izzat emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of youth organizations as strategic partners of the government, with a focus on the youth economic agenda, decent employment, and inclusive development that encompasses all segments of the youth population.

Additionally, MYC expressed appreciation and gratitude to former Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and former deputy minister Adam Adli for their contributions and commitment during their tenure at the ministry. The council reaffirmed its commitment to serve as a critical yet constructive partner to KBS, ensuring that the interests of youth continue to be safeguarded.

The appointments of Dr Mohammed Taufiq and Mordi were announced yesterday by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as part of the MADANI Government Cabinet reshuffle to fill several vacant positions.
