Mustapha Emphasizes Urgent Need to Address Dilapidated Schools in Sabah

Kuala lumpur: Addressing the issue of dilapidated schools in Sabah is no longer an option but a necessity that must be implemented immediately to provide students with first-class education, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud. He emphasized the importance of narrowing the rural infrastructure gap under the Malaysia MADANI framework to ensure that every school is equipped with complete, safe, and dignified basic facilities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mustapha stressed that quality education begins with a conducive learning environment. He highlighted the need for social justice through sustainable infrastructure, as he delivered the keynote address at the Malaysia MADANI Nationhood Seminar: Discourse on the Malaysia Education Plan (RPM) 2026-2035. Mustapha urged collective responsibility for the 2026-2035 education transformation, stating that it is not solely the ministry's obligation.

He called on everyone to become 'Ambassadors of the Education Vision' and to communicate the significance of this transformation to the community. Mustapha encouraged the adoption of an innovative mindset, urging individuals not to wait for top-down instructions but to proactively use discourse input to enhance grassroots operations. He also underscored the importance of maintaining MADANI synergy and collaboration between academics and community drivers.

In his address, Mustapha highlighted the necessity of having high-spirited individuals to drive the success of the RPM 2026-2035 framework. He emphasized the critical role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the nation's future economy, given the industry's rapid growth and the high demand for skilled labor. TVET graduates, he noted, are vital to national innovation and productivity, serving as the backbone of the country's progress.
