TUMPAT: The Kelantan branch of the Civil Defence Force (APM) is set to mobilise 900 personnel in the state throughout the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) period. Its director, Colonel Mohd Adzhar Mujab, announced that these members will be deployed across 10 districts in Kelantan to prepare for potential floods this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the APM has instructed all district offices to activate operations rooms and ready logistics to address any unexpected flooding. Colonel Mohd Adzhar highlighted the importance of these preparations during the Community Outreach and Disaster Preparedness Programme in Kampung Pulau Besar.

The APM plans to conduct patrols when rain and potential flooding occur, ensuring quick action in evacuating and rescuing flood victims. Furthermore, 617 flood hot spots have been identified in Kelantan to help focus rescue operations effectively.

Colonel Mohd Adzhar also mentioned that the APM conducts weekly training with other agencies to maintain readiness for flood situations
. Emphasizing the significance of preparedness, he noted the traditional belief of major floods occurring every 10 years, stressing the need to remain vigilant.
