Kuala lumpur: The issue involving the disbursement of funds under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Digital Grant (MSME) MADANI is expected to be resolved by the end of April, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo. He mentioned that the problem was addressed during a recent National Economic Action Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Gobind stated that BSN (Bank Simpanan Nasional) had previously communicated the disbursement issue to MOF (Ministry of Finance). MOF has committed to taking necessary steps to resolve the matter promptly. Gobind expressed hope that the issue will be addressed by the end of April, ensuring that the disbursement process runs smoothly moving forward.
Gobind also shared that efforts to rectify the problem are already underway and that he will closely monitor the situation to ensure it is resolved within the targeted timeframe. The delay in disbursement has been a matter of concern, as highlighted by the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) chairman Alex Liew. Liew noted that more than 70 percent of claims under the programme have been unpaid for over six months, which surpasses the originally communicated timeline of one to two weeks.
The MSME Digital Grant MADANI offers up to 50 percent, or a maximum of RM5,000, in matching grants for Malaysian-owned small and medium enterprises to integrate digital tools such as e-invoicing, point-of-sale systems, and marketing tools. These applications are managed through BSN, aiming to support businesses in their digital transformation journey.
