M’sians Encouraged to Unite for Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 Humanitarian Mission

Kuala lumpur: A Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 participant urged Malaysians to set aside their differences and instead support the humanitarian efforts taken to assist residents in Gaza. Humanitarian activist Zainal Rashid Ahmad remarked that any differences between parties should not serve as excuses for allowing the suffering in Palestine to continue. "My friends and I may have differing views, but should they be made into excuses to not participate and do good things for Gaza?" he told Bernama here recently, emphasizing that moral support from Malaysians on social media was critical in spreading accurate information to counter the negative narratives.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zainal shared that based on his experience as a GSF participant last year, public support tends to rise drastically once the flotilla is underway and more information from the field becomes available to the public. He expressed confidence that as the flotilla sets sail and more videos and information are shared, the focus of Malaysians will shift significantly towards Gaza. He anticipated that this year, with more explanations and briefings, social media users would begin to understand and share the information more widely. Zainal highlighted that moral support is vital in boosting the spirits of participants, who face various risks at sea, including the possibility of being intercepted by Israeli forces.

The flotilla, scheduled to depart from Kuala Lumpur today, will bring together an international coalition determined to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and address the humanitarian and political crises faced by Palestinians. GSF 2.0 involves over 80 vessels and 1,000 participants from around the world, combining maritime action with land-based global mobilization movements. It also seeks to connect solidarity efforts, legal advocacy, and grassroots campaigns across various countries.
